Badaun (UP): A 23-year-old undertrial, who was lodged in the district jail here in connection with a murder case, died today following severe stomach ache, jail authorities said.
Ram Avtar who was in jail since October last year, complained of severe stomach ache this morning and after preliminary treatment at the jail hospital, he was rushed to the district hospital where he later succumbed, Jail Superintendent Arvind Pandey said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, he added.
Meanwhile, father of the deceased has blamed the jail authorities for Avtar's death.
Claiming that Avtar was healthy when he had met him two days ago, the father has submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate (DM) demanding judicial inquiry into the matter.
