Washington: Multiple gunshots were fired outside US Vice President Joe Biden's residence in Delaware from inside a moving vehicle on Saturday, reports said.

Secret Service spokesman Robert Hoback was quoted by CNN as saying that neither Biden, nor his wife Jill, were present inside the premises during the 8.25 PM (local time) shootout.

Neither the local police nor Secret Service sleuths could catch the vehicle as it sped away.

The US Vice President's residence is 300 yards away from the main road from where the shots were fired, and it was not confirmed whether the shots were fired at the premises.

Cops were investigating whether the shots hit any structure, said reports.

A person who was trying to drive past the Biden residence while it was being secured was also taken into custody after he resisted arrested, reports confirmed. It wasn't ascretained whether the person was related to the shooting or not.
