Tejashwi likens Bihar CM to General Dyer, seeks HC-monitored probe into Munger

Tejashwi Yadav demanded a HC-monitored probe into the firing and stone pelting incident in Munger which killed one person and injured several others. Yadav attacked CM Nitish Kumar and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, asking who gave permission to the Munger police to act like "General Dyer". The incident occurred during goddess Durga idol immersion.

Bihar Assembly polls: Over 33% polling till 1 pm in 1st phase

Around 33.10% polling was recorded till 1 pm during, the Election Commission said. In 31,371 polling stations, 41,689 ballot units, 31,371 control units & 31,371 VVPATs have been deployed. As of 10 am, 0.18% ballot units, 0.26% control units, 0.53% VVPATs were replaced.

Bihar election: 71 seats to go for polls on Wednesday amid COVID-19 protocols

More than two crore voters in Bihar will decide the fate of 1,066 candidates on Wednesday across 71 assembly segments in the first phase of elections. Of the 2.14 crore voters who will exercise their franchise, 1.01 crore are women and 599 belong to the third gender, according to data provided by the Election Commission. Guidelines have been issued by the Election Commission for the safe conduct of the electoral exercise, which takes place in the midst of the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
