Indian Navy can now engage enemy submarines from far distance with SMART: DRDO

Once the Supersonic Missile Assisted Release Torpedo (SMART) weapon system is fully developed it would boost the Indian Navy's anti-submarine warfare capability, the DRDO said. On October 5, a supersonic missile was used to launch a torpedo against a simulated submarine as a target using the SMART weapon system which was fully successfully. The test was carried out from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Balasore off the coast of Odisha.
