Ola lays off 200 engineers to ‘centralise’ operations

The company denied sacking 500 employees. The Bhavish Aggarwal-run company has nearly 1,100 employees in its core ride-hailing business. Ola said it plans to hire 5,000 engineers as it doubles down on new engineering verticals.

Ola begins layoffs, pauses appraisals in cost-cutting exercise

Ola has also deferred appraisals as it aims at "leaner and consolidated teams". Last month, Ola shut down its used vehicle business Ola Cars as well as Ola Dash, its quick-commerce business. The company shut Ola Cars within one year of its launch, as it focuses on its electric two-wheeler and electric car verticals.
