London: Brazilian football ace Ronaldo is set to become an advertising student and has been offered a work placement with London-based communications giant WPP.
The 36-year-old plans to learn the tricks of the trade with the company’s founder Sir Martin Sorrell, the Daily Mirror reports.
Ronaldo’s spokesman claimed the former Real Madrid striker intends to go to England, where he will receive advice and guidance from Mr Sorrell, who is head of the world’s largest advertising company.
Ronaldo has for the past two years been running his own sports marketing agency 9ine, and he is also on the organising committees for the 2014 Brazil World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Ronaldo told a Brazilian newspaper that eighteen years have passed and he has hardly studied at all, adding he now feels great need to become a student again.
The ex-Barcelona striker said he feels the need to immerse himself in something, and believes learning from Martin will be perfect. Ronaldo, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, retired from football last year.
