BJP's landslide victory in UP: Here is what Modi promised to the state
Now when the BJP has registered a whopping victory and forming the government in UP after 15 years, all eyes are on the party whether they will walk the talk.
Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party stunned its rivals when it, along with its ally Apana Dal (Soneylal), won a whopping 321 seats out of 403 in Uttar Pradesh.
During the campaigning in the run-up to the Assembly Elections, the BJP had vowed sops for students, women, and farmers, promised to make efforts to get Ram temple built in Ayodhya within the law, and much more.
Now when the BJP has registered a whopping victory and forming the government in the state after 15 years, all eyes are on the party whether they will walk the talk.
In the meantime, here are the promises the BJP made to the voters:
- Farm loan waiver for small- and medium-scale farmers; loan at zero percent interest rate
- Chief Minister Agriculture Irrigation Scheme will be started with a budget of Rs 20,000 crore
- Dairy Development Fund will be started with corpus of Rs 15 crore
- 24x7 electricity
- Will explore all options to construct Ram temple in Ayodhya "under constitutional provisions"
- All the mechanised slaughterhouses will be closed in Uttar Pradesh
- Scholarship scheme after Dalit icon Dr BR Ambedkar and OBC leader Ahilya Bai Holkar
- Free education to all girls in UP till graduation level under Ahilya Bai Education Scheme
- Free education for boys till Class 12th
- Boys scoring over 50 percent marks in Class 12 will be entitled to free education till their graduation
- Rs 500 crore will be allocated the Dr BR Ambedkar scholarship fund
- Laptops to youth with 1 GB free Internet for a year
- Free wi-fi in universities
- Upgradation of the Dial 100 of the state police to ensure police help in 15 minutes all over UP
- Anti-Romeo squads near colleges to check eve-teasing
- Three women battalions for security of women
- Class 3 and Class 4 employees will be hired only on the basis of merit, no interviews to end corruption
- Food processing parks
- Up to Rs 6 lakh loan for permanent houses and toilets
- BPL citizens to get Rs 2 lakh life cover
- Villages will be connected with mini-bus services
- Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal development board under the directed supervision of the Chief Minister’s office
- Rs 5,001 for every girl child born in poor families
- No age bar for widow pensions which will be Rs 1,000
- Motto of `Na goondaraj, Na Bhrashtachar` (no goondaraj, no corruption) will be followed
- FIRs for all citizens will be registered without caste bias
- In 45 days, all criminals, who are out on parole and committing crimes, will be brought back to jails
- Task force in every district to tackle land and mining mafias
- In the next five years, there will be toilets in every house, LPG in every house and gas pipelines for cities
- Rs 1,000 crore start-up venture capital fund
- Setting up of India's biggest start-up incubator in UP
- Construction of 10 universities of international level, engineering college or polytechnic in each district
- Metro train service in new areas
- 25 new medical colleges will be set up and an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) established in six different zones of UP
