Melbourne: Taylor Swift has signed up to play Canadian musician Joni Mitchell in the much-anticipated movie adaptation of Sheila Weller’s book ‘Girls Like Us.’
The book chronicles the lives of singer/songwriters Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King and how they re-shaped American music.
The 22-year-old country star has been linked to the project for months, but according to a new report in Now Variety, Swift has officially signed on to play the legendary singer on the big screen, News.com.au reported.
Swift has previously landed a small role in the hit romantic comedy, Valentines Day, alongside former boyfriend Taylor Lautner.
She also voiced a character in Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.
Allison Pill and Olivia Thirlby are reportedly in talks to portray King, while insiders suggest ‘Girls’ star Allison Williams and Mad Men’s Jessica Pare are front runners to play ‘You’re So Vain’ singer Simon.
