Mumbai band faces ire of Bret Lee

Mumbai: Mumbai-based rock band M Majors has been accused of cheating Australian cricketer Bret Lee, and the latter has registered a case of cheating and forgery against the band. The MRA Marg Police have received the complaint from Sameer Phadnis of Next level Media Communications, the firm that has been endowed with the power of attorney by Bret Lee to handle his legal matters in India. The Australian cricketer has slammed a case of forgery against the band, with the claim that the band has cheated him of Rs. 10 lakh which he was due to receive for his performance at a concert in a mall in May 2011. Despite the band’s protests claiming their innocence, Lee’s spokesperson has said that the contrary is true. Says Phadnis, “Our firm represents Lee in India. Last April, the band asked us to get Brett Lee to perform with them. He was promised Rs 10 lakh out of which half the amount was to be wired to his account a day prior to the concert.” The band, as alleged by Phadnis, had used a fake account to make the payment to Bret Lee, and the documents that were furnished, too, were fake. After the performance by the Australian cricket star, M Majors stopped attending calls regarding the payment. M Majors is comprised of members Ameya Naik, Arundathi Deshmukh and Vignesh Vishwanathan.
