London: Catherine Zeta-Jones has revealed that her husband Michael Douglas is now “A1” and that his cancer battle has made their relationship even stronger.
Douglas beat throat cancer while Zeta Jones overcame her bi-polar breakdown last Spring.
The Welsh actress admitted that their setbacks made her realise how fame and fortune were insignificant compared to health.
“I am really happy to report that Michael is doing A1,” the Mirror quoted her as saying on Jay Leno show in America.
“You know those prayers were answered. I am very well, Yes I am doing extremely well there is a nothing quite like being hit by a two by four and it was one of those years that was like ‘These things don’t happen to us?’.
“But the reality is that they are happening to so many people all around the world, and we are no different to them, and it gives us a new appreciation of what we can do and how strong a relationship can be. And the sweeter things in life are much sweeter,” she said.
Douglas, 67, is currently learning how to play piano for his role as Liberace on the screen opposite Matt Damon.
The 42-year-old also revealed that she has banished her husband from the house as he is driving her crazy rehearsing for his movie playing gay pianist showman Liberace.
“Michael puts himself 125 percent into it, and so he is playing piano and I send him to the guest house because I can’t stand it,” she said.
“I say ‘Michael, get my diamonds off and wearing hot pants’… no I am kidding, before anyone thinks he is a cross dresser.”
On being asked if rumours about him wearing her underwear were true, she said, “He wishes. If he could fit into them.”
