New Delhi: Two toddlers in Delhi died of suffocation on Wednesday after they were trapped in a locked car for nearly nine hours.

The incident took place in outer Delhi's Ranhaula area.

Identified as Sonu, 5 and Raj, 6, the toddlers were spotted inside a car owned by Raju, father of one of the deceased.

The bodies of the kids were found with burn injuries.

Raju, who is also a cab driver, mistakenly left his car unlocked and went to his room to sleep.

According to police, when Raju realised that he left his car unlocked, he used his key to remote-lock it.

However, by that time both the boys while playing had entered the car. The police believe that they apparently fell asleep inside.

The parents initially thought that the kids were abducted, but, later on, found them at the back of the cab.

The boys who were promptly rushed to the hospital were unfortunately declared dead.
