Demonetisation: SC to hear plea of Centre against proceedings in other courts

New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay of proceedings in various high courts and other courts against its demonetisation decision.

The apex court also agreed to hear tomorrow the plea of Centre against proceedings in other courts except the apex court.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in the National capital today,  Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das said that effective tomorrow, exchange limit will be reduced to Rs 2,000 from earlier limit of Rs 4,500.

The government has given some relief to those families who have an impending wedding. Such families can draw Rs 2.5 lakh.

Coming to the rescue of the farmers who are facing huge cash crunch following PM Modi's decision to demonetise the high value currency notes, Finance Ministry today said that they can draw upto Rs 25,000 against loan a week.
