New Delhi: The common belief of 'Pitra Dosh' states that if, in case, we have caused any unhappiness to our ancestors (while they were alive) or have forgotten them (after their demise) then this leads to a feeling of anger/discontent to our predecessors. It is believed that they might even curse us for the same.

Quite a few also say this can also cause many mishappenings in one's life like the individual may fall repeatedly sick or face failures or repeated miscarriages or other such omens.

Hence, it's very important to please your ancestors. Therefore, people follow the necessary rituals during this time.

It is advised by Hindus to make sure to serve your Pitras with utmost sincerity during the 16-day-long Shraadh period.
