New Delhi: A while ago, the internet went berserk about Anushka Sharma's latest outing 'Sultan', for her portrayal of the role 'Aarfa'.
Sharma, who essayed the character Aarfa- the female wrestler in the Salman Khan starrer, enjoys the reputation of being a straightforward woman in the film industry. However, her character in the movie was recently slammed by a lot of critics who claimed that the movie paints a patriarchal picture of society, despite it entering the coveted 200 crore club.
In the flick, the character in question sacrifices her career for motherhood.
Anushka, was questioned that why she took up a role where she had to show this sexism though her character.
The 'PK' actress has for once and all, put a lid on the controversy by defending her stance with a powerful post on twitter. She has also shared a post by Victoria Azarenka's announcement of pregnancy and the subsequent sabbatical from the tour in order to shut up critics.
At a time when a lot is being talked about how Tennis player Sania Mirza recently gave it back to a sexist question put by journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, this comes as an interesting take on the whole 'child-over-career' debate.
