New Delhi: The ongoing debate over the presence of Pakistani artistes in Indian films is taking the nation by storm. Recently, Bollywood veteran Om Puri was invited to a television chat show to discuss the same. But, unfortunately, amidst the program, he uttered words that were utterly disgraceful.

The 65-year-old actor disrespected our soldiers, who lost their lives while protecting the nation. The 'Dirty Politics' star said that we didn't force the martyrs to join the army.

"Who had asked the soldiers to join the army? Who told them to pick the weapons? Do you want India-Pakistan enmity to turn like Israel and Palestine, and fight for ages? India is home to crores of Muslims, there is no point in provoking them for war. Several Indians have their relatives staying across the border and vice-versa, how can they fight a war with their cross-border families," a report in DNA quoted him as saying.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had issued a 48-hour ultimatum on September 23 to all Pakistani cine and television artistes to leave India. The ban came after the September 18 terror attack that killed 19 Indian soldiers in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir.

Then, IMPPA also announced its decision to ban Pakistani artistes and technicians from working in India.
