New Delhi: At a time when Bollywood is bustling with sex comedies and other visual treats in the name of art and cinema, here's a movie which has been swiftly brushed under the carpet – Sudha Kongara Prasad's sports drama 'Saala Khadoos'. The movie which chronicles the life of a disgraced boxer releases on Friday.

Interestingly, given the fact that 2016 is a year of clashes – we have another clash at the box office between 'Saala Khadoos' and 'Mastizaade'. Last week saw a similar battle between 'Airlift' and 'Kya Kool Hai Hum 3'.

While one of the flicks is based on a serious subject, the other rides high on sexcapades. Which one leaves a mark in the hearts of the viewers only time can tell.

Coming back to 'Saala Khadoos', the movie stars R Madhavan and boxer-turned-actress Ritika Singh in the lead. Here are a few reasons why you must have your faith in this flick and consider booking a ticket!

R Madhavan plays the 'khadoos' trainer

R Madhavan has his own style. He might not be a frequenter in Bollywood, but every once in a while he makes an appearance, and the movie sails smooth.

Features real-life boxer

This is no gorgeous actress portraying a real life sports person, but a real life sportswoman who features in the film herself. If you like substance and not just glitz, you will probably like this one.

Bi-lingual

The movie will release in two languages: Hindi and Tamil. Although the Tamil version 'Irudhi Suttru' will be played along a different tone, the gist of the story remains the same.

It's a sport-drama

Not many movies release every year with a theme on sports. After 'Mary Kom', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' hitting an impressive note, we can't wait to watch this one!

Makers' hard work:

Reportedly director and scriptwriter Sudha Kongara Prasad worked on the script for 6 long years and faced many obstacles while making her endeavour a reality. Also the fact that Rajkumar Hirani embraced the flick wholeheartedly, leaves audience more hopeful about it!
