Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G Vs Canvas Xpress 2: A comparison

Said to be an upgraded version of the Micromax Canvas Xpress 2, which was launched about four months ago, the Xpress 4G has indeed certain features that sets it apart from its predecessor.

Home-grown handset maker Micromax has launched the Canvas Xpress 4G, the company's first 4G smartphone at a tempting price of Rs 6,599 and is available exclusively on Flipkart.

Said to be an upgraded version of the Micromax Canvas Xpress 2, which was launched about four months ago, the Xpress 4G has indeed certain features that sets it apart from its predecessor.

Here, we give you a basic specification comparison of Micromax Canvas Xpress 4G and Canvas Xpress 2.

Screen Display:

Both the Xpress 4G and Xpress 2 come with a 5-inch HD IPS screen display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels.

Operating System:

One of the best smartphones from Micromax, the Canvas Xpress 2 came with a Android 4.4.2 KitKat though Android 5.0 Lollipop was already available then. Perhaps, realizing this, the Canvas Xpress 4G comes with the Google's latest OS, the Android 5.1 Lollipop, making it a winner above its predecessor.

Processor:

The Micromax Canvas Xpress 2 came with a 1.4GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6592M chipset which was strong and great for smartphones. But one fails to understand by the company would come with 1GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6735 chipset, which is about half the power. However, having said that most smartphones in the market come with a quad-core chipset which is more than enough though.

Storage and RAM:

It's hands-down here to Canvas Xpress 4G which comes with a 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM compared to Xpress 2's 8GB of internal memory and 1BG of RAM. However, having said that both the smartphones support microSD expansion of up to 32GB.

Camera:

In the camera segment, the upper hand goes to Xpress 2 for the 13MP back camera with a dual flash as compared to the 8MP camera and LED flash of Xpress 4G. However, both the smartphones have a 2MP front-facing camera for selfie.

Battery:

Let us not deny this but battery is, on most occasion, the weak point of Micromax mobiles. And while the Xpress 2 which supported 3G on both the SIMs, one fails to understand why the company loaded the Canvas Xpress 4G with just 2,000mAh battery.

Connectivity:

Both are dual-SIM smartphones and while the Canvas Xpress 2 supports 3G in both the SIM slots, Xpress 4G supports 3G and 4G only in the SIM1 slot while the SIM2 slot supports only 2G. Perhaps, another weak point of Canvas Xpress 4G when most of its competitors Xiaomi Redmi 2 supports 4G in both SIM slots.

Price:

Both the smartphones have been priced competitively in the market which is definitely one of the most attractive points for consumers. Having said that, the Xpress 4G has been priced at Rs 6,599 only which is exactly Rs 600 more than the price of Xpress 2, i.e. Rs 5,999.

And while we have given a brief comparison of the specifications of the Canvas Xpress 4G and the Canvas Xpress 2, we leave it to the readers to decide on their choice between the two.
