Two persons died and 18 others, including a police officer, were injured in Holi related clashes at different places in Bihar's Darbhanga district, police said on Saturday.

Darbhanga: Two persons died and 18 others, including a police officer, were injured in Holi related clashes at different places in Bihar's Darbhanga district, police said on Saturday.

One person was killed and 12 others injured after a clash erupted between two groups during a Holi procession here.

The clash erupted in Agatpur village of the district last evening when one of the groups was bringing out a procession which was allegedly opposed by the other group, police said.

While Chandreshwar Lal (30) died during treatment at Primary Health Centre, 12 others, including Singhwara Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar were injured, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Uma Shankar Sudhanshu said.

In a separate incident, one person was critically injured in a clash between two groups yesterday at Sankhera village of Darbhanga, police said, adding, he succumbed to his injuries in Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in the state capital today.

The incident took place in Ashoka Paper Mill police station area late last night when two group of people quarreled over playing DJ songs on the occasion of Holi festival.

In yet another incident, six persons were injured in a clash between two group of people at Chhapki village under sadar police station area of Darbhanga district over playing DJ on holi occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.

Police forces have been deployed at the sensitive areas to maintain normalcy, the SSP said.
