New Delhi: The Central Board for Secondary Examination (CBSE) will hold the Class XII exams from March 1 to April 24 this year.
For Class X students, the Board-based exams would be held from March 1 to March 28. Those who opt for the School-based exams, the date of commencement of examination is March 10.
According to a CBSE statement released on Wednesday, of the total 14,99,122 registered students for Class X examination, 8,92,685 are boys and 6,06,437 are girls.
The total number of registered candidates for Class XII exams is 10,67,900 of whom 6,21,259 are boys and 4,46,641 are girls.
The Class X and XII results are likely to be declared in the month of May-June, CBSE said.
Last year, 13,73,853 students had appeared for class X, which means that there is an increase of 9.12 percent in the number of students appearing for these exams this year.
For class XII, the increase is 2.65 percent as 10,67,900 students are appearing this year as compared to 10,40,368 students in 2015.
In Delhi region, 1,51,475 boys and 1,39,896 girls are appearing for the Class X examinations, totalling 2,91,371 candidates.
For Class XII, 1,41,076 boys and 1,29,759 girls would be appearing, taking the total to 2,70,835.
Special arrangements have been made for the examination candidates belonging to the differently-abled category since 2860 such students will be appearing for Class X examinations and 1921 for Class XII.
For the forthcoming board exams, 17,000 schools have been brought under the ambit of Board's digital programme, e-CBSE, under which the schools can generate student roll numbers for main exam, make corrections in the particulars, upload photos using the existing ID and passwords except for subject change, an official statement said.
Schools can also upload internal subject assessment grades of Class XII under this programme.
The Board said it conducts Open Text-based Assessment for classes IX and XI to inculcate analytical and theoretical skills.
Open Text based Assessment (OTBA) for Class IX (SA-II) is conducted in all the main subjects Hindi, English, Mathematics Science, Social Science. For Class XI it is held in Economics, Biology and Geography (annual exams).
