AIIMS resident doctors accuse professor of physical assault

Residents doctors of the neuro surgery department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday alleged a senior professor of the institution had manhandled and verbal abused them and sought his removal.

New Delhi: Residents doctors of the neuro surgery department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday alleged a senior professor of the institution had manhandled and verbal abused them and sought his removal.

According to reports, the AIIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has also written to the institute's director MC Misra over the issue.

It is learnt that the professor has been asked to remain off duty and a inquiry against him is underway.

The resident doctors complained of abuse and derogatory language during rounds and surgeries while some even alleged physical assault by the assistant professor.

A four member committee has been constituted to probe the matter by the AIIMS director and the statements of a few resident doctors has also been recorded against the faculty.

"We demand earliest possible completion of the inquiry proceedings against him," the association told the director.
