Special package for Bundelkhand soon, says Pachauri

region, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Suresh Pachauri said
on Tuesday.

"The Centre is contemplating to announce a special
package of Rs 4,310 crore for the development of Bundelkhand
soon," Pachauri said in a statement here.

The Centre, however, has decided to monitor the fund
usage given under the package amid charges of corruption and
irregularities in the implementation of Central schemes, he
said adding, it would help the common man get the full benefit
of the package.

Under the package, Rs 1,300 crore is meant for water
management, Rs 1,118 crore for irrigation facilities and
Rs 920 crore for agriculture related works, the state Congress
President said.

Apart from this, a sum of Rs 580 crore would be for
waiving off debt of farmers and crop insurance, Rs 242 crore
for upgradation of forest land, Rs 100 crore for animal
husbandry, milk processing and fishing and Rs 50 crore for
horticulture in the package, Pachauri said.
