Wagah, Aug 09: Member of Parliament Rashid Alwi, who was going to Pakistan as part of the delegation of Indian parliamentarians, was not allowed to cross-over the Wagah border today as he did not posses a valid visa to visit that country.
The Indian immigration department at Wagah refused Alwi
the permission to cross-over as there was some technical flaw
in his passport and he lacked a valid visa for visiting
Pakistan, Assistant Commissioner of customs and excise
Paramjit Singh Sodhi said.

However, when he was told by the immigration section here
that he could not be allowed to cross over to Pakistan, Alwi
got "irritated" and became "adamant" to cross-over, sources
said.

Later, he was permitted by the Indian immigration and
custom officials to cross-over, but the moment he crossed the
Red Cliff at joint check post at Wagah, he was intercepted by
the Pakistan rangers on zero line on the Pakistani side to
verify his visa and was asked to go back to the Indian side.
