Kochi: BJP on Saturday termed as "obnoxious" and "totally unacceptable" the death of a student from Arunachal Pradesh in the national capital after alleged racial assault and the remarks against Kerala nurses by an AAP leader.
The incident relating to the death of the student, Nido Tania, son of a Congress MLA, was "sad and very wrong", BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi told reporters here.
"We are one nation, one people," she said.
Yesterday, police had registed a case of murder as the incident sparked a furore in the national capital with allegations of discrimination against people from the northeast.
Earlier, the derogatory remarks made by AAP leader Kumar Vishwas against Kerala nurses had sparked off a controversy after which he had apologised.
On Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal`s attack against BJP leaders, she said it was quite clear that it was an election propaganda.
Kejriwal from 2011 had raised allegations against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit saying he had evidence against her. However, after he became Chief Minister, he was asking the opposition BJP to come out with evidence, she alleged.
Kejriwal was `trying to take people for a ride. His pre-election and post-election stands were different, she said and described him as "Mr u-turn".
He has not taken any action against Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti for conducting midnight raid against some Ugandan nationals, including women, she said.
Lekhi said Kejriwal was the "reincarnation" of Congress, "which was losing ground."
In order to obfuscate the issue of Bharti, Kejriwal had organised dharna in Delhi just before the Republic day, she alleged. This was an attack on the constitution of India.
Earlier, speaking after inaugurating the `Support
NAMO`campaign in Kerala, Lekhi said India had failed to recognise its heroes who wanted the country to become a super power.
She said former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was the man behind the cryogenic engine technology, had been forgotten.
Narayanan had been put behind bars in connection with the ISRO espionage case, but had later been let off by court.
The scientist had given his best years to the country had been picked by NASA three times, but he chose to remain in the country.
BJP had recently demanded prosecution of the Intelligence Bureau officials who were involved in the investigation in the two decade old ISRO espionage case in which Narayanan was an accused.
Lekhi also criticised the government`s decision of auctioning of national symbols like former naval warship INS Vikrant, which had been decommissioned.
"Auctioning our national pride is unethical," she said.
