Laloo demands Advani's resignation

New Delhi, July 16: The Jammu massacre had its echo in the Rajya Sabha today with members unequivocally condemning the incident and RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav demanding resignation of Home Minister L K Advani for government's failure to protect innocent people.

The opposition members wanted government to clarify its
stand on the RSS demand for trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.

Several members joined the leader of the opposition
Manmohan Singh during zero hour in demanding a discussion on
the massacre with Laloo Prasad Yadav going a step further
seeking the resignation of Advani.

The Qasim Nagar incident had shocked the entire nation,
Singh said, adding the house would like to know from
government its strategy to deal with the menace.

Responding to members' demand, chairman Krishan Kant and
leader of the house Jaswant Singh said the house would take up
the matter tomorrow.

Yadav, Nilotpal Basu (CPI-M) and Janeswar Mishra (SP) wanted to know from the government if it was pursuing the RSS
agenda of trifurcation of the state.

The government should come out with a clear-cut statement
on the RSS demand, they said.
