Home minister L K Advani on Monday termed as a serious matter the arrest of a Parliament official on charges of supplying certain sensitive national security information to a Pakistani High Commission staffer and warned of consequences.

“Consequences will follow because it is serious matter and both in respect of the Parliament official as well in respect of the Pakistani (high commission) official,” he told reporters after a meeting with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi.

The executive assistant of Parliament secretariat`s question cell was caught red handed for allegedly supplying Mohammad Sharief Khan, a Pakistan High Commission staffer, documents relating to defence, atomic energy, nuclear research, railway security, ship-designing and technology upgradation.

Police is probing if officials of Pakistan High Commission were involved in the December 13 terrorist strike on Parliament.
