Naveen demands Rs 762 cr for roads in Maoist-hit districts

The Orissa government has asked the Centre to sanction Rs 762 crore for developing roads in Maoist-affected districts in the state.

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa government has asked
the Centre to sanction Rs 762 crore for developing roads in
Maoist-affected districts in the state.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who had met Union Minister
for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath in New Delhi
recently told him that the presence of Maoists in certain
parts of the state had caused additional requirement of roads,
a press release said here today.
At least 19 road projects entailing a cost of Rs 762
crore was needed in Maoist-infested districts...17 of the
state`s 30 districts are Maoist-hit, Patnaik told Nath.

Patnaik also requested Nath to sanction Rs 425 crore for
the Vijaywada-Ranchi Corridor, the release said.
