Three engineers, two minor boys drown in Odisha

Five persons, including three engineers and two boys, drowned in separate incidents in Odisha's Angul and Keonjhar districts on Sunday, police said.

Angul/Keonjhar: Five persons, including three engineers and two boys, drowned in separate incidents in Odisha's Angul and Keonjhar districts on Sunday, police said.

The bodies of three engineers were recovered from a pond near Ambapala village under Nisha police station jurisdiction in Angul district this morning, they said.

The deceased, who worked in a private steel company in the area, hailed from Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, police said, quoting the company officials.

The trio was believed to have gone for a feast near the pond last night after work and might have slipped into the water and drowned. The incident was believed to have occurred in the wee hours, police said, adding investigation was on.

In another incident, two minor boys of Bilagaon village under Patana police station limits of Keonjhar district drowned while taking bath in a pond, police said.

The boys, aged 7 and 14 years, were taken to the government hospital in Karanjia where doctors declared them dead, they added.
