New Delhi: NASA's Mars rover Curiosity has now resumed work after a brief pause to upgrade its software and is now back to work of drilling into Martian soil.

Earlier this month, Mars rover drilled into a crystal-rich rock called "Mojave" at Gale Crater on the Red Planet to find out salt mineral left behind when lake water evaporated.

At present, the rover is currently exploring the lower regions of Mount Sharp known as Aeolis Mons.

In December, Curiosity rover accomplished the task of finding carbon-containing compounds and spurts of methane gas in Gale.
