Ghaziabad: Surender Koli, one of the main
accused in the sensational Nithari killings case, on Thursday told a
court here that he wanted to replace the lawyer defending him
saying he got the death in one case because of the advocate`s
"incompetency".
Koli, in his application told to the court that the
defence lawyer provided to him by the government is not
competent enough to deal with his cases and due to his
incompetency he was sentenced to death.
On his plea, the Judge Shyamlal postponed the hearing
till April 5.
"Four cases, including those relating to the killing of
Payal, Nanda Devi and two others, were fixed for hearing today
but the Judge considered Koli`s application of providing
competent advocate and fixed April 5 for hearing and disposal
of application," said CBI advocate Jai Prekash Sharma.
Koli also said that the new advocate should be from
outside Ghaziabad.
He also said that being a poor man and can not afford the
expenses of an advocate.
