Deepika Padukone to play Sridevi in NTR biopic? All you need to know

New Delhi: Indian cinema's first female superstar, Sridevi not only proved her acting mettle in Bollywood but tasted huge success in regional cinema as well. Her death not only shocked the nation but also created a void which can never be filled. A film on Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao aka NTR will reportedly have a part featuring Sridevi and none other than Deepika Padukone's name is doing the rounds for playing the legendary actress in it.

Recently, a biopic based on the life of the south superstar and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao was announced at the Ramakrishna Studios, Hyderabad. Renowned actor and NTR's son Nandamuri Balakrishna will be seen stepping into his father's shoes and play him on-screen.

Now, the latest rumour about the ambitious project is that none other than Bollywood current number one actress Deepika Padukone will be seen playing late actress Sridevi in the film.

According to a report published in Deccan Chronicle, there is a huge possibility that Deepika might be seen playing Sridevi in the biopic as seems to fit the bill. NTR and Sridevi delivered several superhit films together such as 'Vetagadu', 'Kondaveeti Simham' and 'Bobbili Puli'. Therefore, there will be a small part in the film which will showcase Sridevi in it and for that Deepika has been approached. The report quoted a source as claiming this.

Sridevi's untimely death left the nation wailing for her as she breathed her last on February 24, 2018 in Dubai where she had gone to attend a family wedding. An ocean of fan following and the entire film industry gathered together to pay their last respects to the veteran star.

Teja will be helming the ambitious project which will map NTR's entire life journey from movies to politics. It will be made in Telugu and Hindi. The makers are planning to release the film during Dussehra.

The biopic will be jointly produced by Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Vardhan Induri. NTR died on January 18, 1996 at the age of 72.

No official statement has been made by the makers of the project of the actor regarding the casting as yet.
