New Delhi: Gliding overhead, somewhere beyond the blue skies, the astronauts aboard the International Space Station, have given everyone their share of the vast universe we belong to, through extraordinary views and sights that would otherwise be beyond our imagination.

A part of NASA's Expedition 48, American astronaut and ISS commander Jeff Williams is all set to descend to Earth along with his crew, which includes Oleg Skripochka and Alexey Ovchinin of the Russian Roscosmos, on the evening of 6th September at 9:14 pm EDT. They have completed 172 days in space.

As per NASA's schedule, the trio will undock Tuesday at 5:51 p.m. EDT inside the Soyuz TMA-20M spacecraft officially ending the Expedition 48 mission. After a few hours they will parachute to a landing in Kazakhstan after 5-1/2 months in space.

With his last few hours in space coming to an end, Jeff Williams shared his final image before descent – a gorgeous view of our home planet – on Twitter.

He's obviously going to miss it and after the stunning images he's posted throught his journey, we don't blame him. Given the amazing views, well, who wouldn't?

He wrote, “I will certainly miss this view! Vast gratitude toward my crewmates, ground teams, supporting friends, and family.”
