New Delhi: Considering the accidents which have occured on the cricket field in the past, there has been a huge debate whether umpires should also wear safety gear.
In Match 19 of the ongoing Indian Premier League, umpire Bruce Oxenford was the centre of attraction as he entered the field wearing a safety shied on his right hand.
The decision was a wise one from the Australian, considering he was up against two teams comprising some of the finest big-hitters in AB de Villiers, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina and Dwayne Smith.
