New Delhi: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza, who is on a roll in women's doubles along with her Swiss partner Martina Hingis, on Monday said that they are happy to have won 36 matches in a row.

Speaking to CNN IBN, Sania said that after having a brilliant 2015, it's great to start the new year by winning the Australian Open, which is their third major title in a row.

Reacting on winning 36 matches in a row, Sania said that they have even surpassed their own expectations and want to extend the streak as much as they can.

"At some point, we will lose. We will try to extend it as far as possible," Sania said.

When asked about a career slam, Sania was quick to respond that there is quite some time for the French Open to begin and even though it would be their toughest slam, the 'Santina' pair will do whatever they can to achieve another feat.

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis were on Friday crowned the Australian Open women's doubles champions after they tamed the spirited Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in straight sets for their 36th win in a row.

It was their third consecutive Grand Slam title for Sania and Martina, having won the Wimbledon and US Open in 2015.

In an incredible feat, Sania and Martina have now extended their unbeaten run to 36 matches, winning eight titles in a row. They won five straight titles in 2015, starting from the US Open and before the Australian Open now.
