India surpasses US to become country with most no of global COVID recoveries

India has so far reported more than 42 lakh (42,08,431) coronavirus recoveries which reportedly accounts for close to 19% of the total global recoveries. The US, on the other hand, has registered 41,91,894 COVID-19 recoveries to date. India's coronavirus recovery rate on Saturday improved to 79.28%.

Top 9 states which account for 74 per cent of total coronavirus cases in India

Among the nine states, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh contributes 48.8 percent of the total active cases and Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, Assam and Chattisgarh contributes 25.1 percent. The Ministry also informed that India’s 60 percent of the daily new recoveries come from 5 States - Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh. The total number of COVID-19 recovered cases in the country is at 35.5 lakh.

India records highest single-day recovery of 57.38 k in last 24 hours

India`s TEST, TRACK, TREAT strategy has achieved another peak with 8,68,679 tests done in the last 24 hours. This has taken the cumulative tests to more than 2.85 crores. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said that with such high level of recoveries, India`s recovery rate surged to 70 percent. The gap between recovered patients and active COVID-19 cases, therefore, has increased and crossed 11 lakh, i.e. 11,40,716 according to the ministry.

More than 43.93 lakh people have recovered from COVID-19 globally

The top-four countries that have witnessed the most recoveries are the United States (US) (6,17,460), Brazil (5,76,779), Russia (3,39,142) and India (2,27,728).
