Indian Railways still has a provision to run private freight trains or private containers, but so far, only a few big players from Coal or Steel sectors book entire trains or all containers in small numbers The majority of private players are away from it, and only companies like SAIL and Jindal Steel book such private trains

Railway registers more than 10% jump in freight loading compared to last year

In the month of September till September 6, 2020, Indian Railways loading was 19.19 million tonnes which are 10.41% (1.81mn tonnes) higher compared to last year’s loading for the same period (17.38mn tonnes) In this period, Indian Railways earned Rs 1836.15 crores from freight loading which is also Rs 129.68 crores higher compare to last year’s earnings for the same period (Rs 1706.47 crores) A number of concessions/ discounts are also being given in Indian Railways to make Railways Freight movement very attractive

Goyal for strict monitoring of work, suggests incentives for contractors

The review meeting was attended by all the top officials of Railways Board, DFCCIL including CRB and MD/DFCCIL, and the contractual agencies The progress of each individual section was discussed in detail, and instructions were given to ensure smooth progress by resolving all hindrances Goyal directed the DFFCIL management team and the contractors to take all possible steps to speed up the pace of works on all the sections of the Western DFC and Eastern DFC
