The Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore) has released the GATE 2024 response sheet on gate2024.iisc.ac.in. The exam was held on February 3-4, 10-11.

Over 4.21 lakh seats vacant in engineering colleges across country: MoE
According to the data, of the 12,53,337 sanctioned seats in engineering colleges approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), 4,21,203 or 33 per cent remained vacant in the year 2021-22.

Maths, physics not mandatory in Class 12 for admissions in engineering college
Earlier, Class 12 level maths and physics subjects were mandatory for students seeking admissions in engineering and technology colleges. The candidates must obtain at least 45 per cent marks (40 per cent marks in case of candidates from reserved category) in these subjects to be eligible for admission, the rule book said.

AICTE to shut 800 engineering colleges from next academic year
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is likely to shut nearly 800 engineering colleges across the country from the next academic year. The decision is believed to have been taken owing to a low rate of admissions and poor infrastructure.
