A 62-year-old woman in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district was killed when her electric scooter's battery exploded while charging, reigniting concerns over EV battery safety.
In July of the same year, Renault Korea Motors and GM Korea followed suit. BMW Korea started providing the information in June 2023, while Tesla followed suit in October of last year.
Many of the fires blamed on the batteries have been caused by malfunctioning devices left to charge overnight and placed in a hallway or near a door where they can trap people inside a burning apartment.
