The Indian Super League (ISL) returns for its 12th edition with a heavyweight clash in the season opener as defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) host Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC).   

The much-anticipated Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season is set to be a landmark edition, marked by a major shift in management, a streamlined format, and the inclusion of new faces from the I-League. Following the conclusion of the long-standing agreement between the AIFF and FSDL, the 12th season of India's premier football league is ready to kick off with a fresh outlook. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced the starting date of the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season, with all 14 clubs participating in the league.  

The Indian Super League was in limbo ever since the talks between Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) and All India Football Federation broke down, and the two could not decide on the renewal of the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) with AIFF to operate the Indian Super League.

India defender Anwar Ali was on Thursday cleared to play for East Bengal after the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) Players Status Committee issued him a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The decision came after the Delhi High Court ordered a rehearing of his case, overturning a previous suspension imposed by the AIFF.
