Sashastra Seema Bal seizes heroin worth Rs 6 crore in Bihar

A team of 56th battalion of SSB arrested a Nepalese citizen along with 900 gram of heroin from Sonamani Godam.

Araria: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel arrested a man from the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar's Araria district and seized 900 gram of heroin worth Rs 6 crore from him, officials said on Thursday. 

A team of 56th battalion of SSB arrested a Nepalese citizen Lal Bahadur Sardar along with 900 gram of heroin from Sonamani Godam area under the same police outpost of the Indo-Nepal border of the district when the team was on night patrol, SSB's Deputy Commandant Maninder Kumar said.

The SSB team arrested Sardar, a resident of Morang district of Nepal, in the wee hours of today when he was trying to cross the border from Nepal side to enter India with two packets of 450 gram heroin each, the Deputy Commandant said and added that the value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 6 crore in international market.

The man has been handed over to the local police, the Deputy Commandant added.
