New Delhi: China's largest smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has sold 14.8 million handsets in the first quarter of 2016, as per report.

Interestingly, the company had shipped out 14.98 million smartphones in the same quarter in the previous year.

The handset maker, which rose predominantly over the last two years especially in India, has been a driving force in the smartphone market.

In 2015, the company managed to sell 70 million smartphones, which was a huge success though it fell short of its 80 million target.

According to Mr. Wang, a well-known China-based analyst who works for IHS Technology, Xiaomi sold 14.8 million devices in the first quarter worldwide.

This is a great achievement considering that Xiaomi sells most of its products through flash sales. Moreover, the success of the company's latest flagship smartphone Mi 5 is yet to put an impact on the sales target considering that it is sold on flash sale.

Once Mi 5, Redmi Note 3 and the Note 3 Pro goes on open sales, Xiaomi is sure to have a better sales margin.
