A Dialogue with JC: Modi govt has operationalised 33 new airports in last one year, says Jayant Sinha

Speaking on his ministry's latest achievement UDAN, Minister of State for Aviation Jayant Sinha in an exclusive conversation with Zee Media's Executive Director and CEO regional channels Jagdeesh Chandra informed that five aviation companies have joined the scheme and more flights would be added in routes with the increase in demand.

New Delhi: Speaking on his ministry's latest achievement UDAN, Minister of State for Aviation Jayant Sinha in an exclusive conversation with Zee Media's Executive Director and CEO regional channels Jagdeesh Chandra informed that five aviation companies have joined the scheme and more flights would be added in routes with the increase in demand.

Appearing on the show A Dialogue with JC, the first time parliamentarian from Hazaribagh spoke about all the current issues. Jayant Sinha, who was associated with the corporate world for 25 years, joined Modi cabinet as MoS Finance after winning from his father's seat in Jharkhand.

He acknowledged the cooperation he received from the state governments. Speaking on North East, he said there are immense possibilities of new airports there. He told about the new Pakyong airport built in Sikkim. He also said that a new multimodal airport would come up in Guwahati. On the financial condition of Air India, he said the transformation plan is ready. He also added that the company is earning operational benefits but the loan burden is a matter of worry. Answering a question on fare hikes, he said price rise of fuel and security expenses are the major reasons behind such hikes.

Sinha said that in the last one year Modi government has operationlised 33 new airports. This in itself is a big achievement considering India had 75 airports in the last 75 years.

To a question on traffic conjestion in Delhi and Mumbai airports, he replied that the pressure is there on the whole network in Mumbai due to it's only runway. Considering the rising pressure on Delhi airport, he recognised the necessity of a new airport in western Uttar Pradesh. He said it would not only decrease congestion in Delhi but also benefit the industries of this region. Speaking on the Gaikwad-Air India episode, he said, his ministry is working on the formulation of No Fly List with regard to the safety also.

Jayant Sinha when asked about his government's aims in the coming two years, answered his governemt would provide better facilities to the poors. For his constituency, Jayant said, a new airport is coming up in Hazaribagh. He also added that Raghwar Das governemt is working for the betterment of the people in Jharkhand. Road connectivity is getting better, power is being provided to the villages and Dobhas are being built for conserving water.

Speaking on the Modi Model of development, he said many developing countries are learning from us. He gave all the credits to PM Modi and Party president Amit Shah for recent victories in state elections especially Uttar Pradesh. Finally he said that opposition should think of contesting with them only in the year 2034.
