Right then, the batting has let South Africa down and it's over to their bowlers to help them get back in this Test match. They have plenty of quality in their bowling ranks and let's see how they utilize the conditions. Stay tuned to find out...

The destroyer-in-chief, Matt Henry comes up for a quick chat. Says that it's a great start to the Test match and he is feeling great in front of his friends and family. Tells that it's nice to get an opportunity to play Test cricket. Mentions that after watching the overhead conditions, he was hoping to get a chance to bowl first.

South Africa were put to bat under testing conditions but by no means it's a 95 all out surface. There was a lack of application on their part and the technique was also questionable. They ended up playing many deliveries meant to be left and as a result, kept losing wickets. Zubayr Hamza and Kyle Verreynne did put up a little resistance but that was not enough. 

Blown away! No strong wind here in Christchurch but the local boy, Matt Henry, has still blown away the Proteas with his stormy bowling. With an outstanding bowling figure of 7 for 23, the speedster decimated the South African batting line-up. The other bowlers also rallied around him and it was a clinical show from the Kiwis in the park.

Matt Henry will have to wait for his hat-trick delivery though. A triple-wicket maiden for him!

South Africa have their backs to the wall after a sorry start. Temba Bavuma and Zubayr Hamza have spent some time in the middle and despite getting beaten on plenty of occasions, they have braved the conditions. A morning of dominance for the Black Caps. Everything has gone according to the plan. Tom Latham opted to bowl and his bowlers vindicated his decision. Matt Henry impressed the most with his pace and the ability to move the ball both ways. He picked up the first wicket by dismissing Dean Elgar cheaply and then hunted down two wickets in one over after returning for his second spell. The rest of the Kiwi bowlers were also right on the money and tested the South African batters with some impeccab

New Zealand's coach Gary Stead confirmed that Matt Henry will replace Boult which seems the home side will go with an all-pace attack while Dean Elgar has hinted that Sarel Erwee might get an opportunity to make his Test debut. Will he get the nod? New Zealand will be without some veteran players like Kane Williamson and Trent Boult. With Ross Taylor now retired, they need someone like him to fill his void. They drew their last home series against Bangladesh while South Africa won 2-1 against India. The Kiwis will enjoy the home condition but with a few senior players missing, they have to get their best game against a side that is sitting fourth on the World Test Championship table.

The lush green outfield and strong winds are the hallmarks here and they bring a different kind of challenge for the touring teams. South Africa are in the country to challenge the supremacy of the Black Caps at home and the coming two Test matches are going to be full of excitement. Right then, the batting has let South Africa down and it's over to their bowlers to help them get back in this Test match. They have plenty of quality in their bowling ranks and let's see how they utilize the conditions. Stay tuned to find out...

The destroyer-in-chief, Matt Henry comes up for a quick chat. Says that it's a great start to the Test match and he is feeling great in front of his friends and family. Tells that it's nice to get an opportunity to play Test cricket. Mentions that after watching the overhead conditions, he was hoping to get a chance to bowl first.

South Africa were put to bat under testing conditions but by no means it's a 95 all out surface. There was a lack of application on their part and the technique was also questionable. They ended up playing many deliveries meant to be left and as a result, kept losing wickets. Zubayr Hamza and Kyle Verreynne did put up a little resistance but that was not enough. 

Blown away! No strong wind here in Christchurch but the local boy, Matt Henry, has still blown away the Proteas with his stormy bowling. With an outstanding bowling figure of 7 for 23, the speedster decimated the South African batting line-up. The other bowlers also rallied around him and it was a clinical show from the Kiwis in the park.

New Zealand's coach Gary Stead confirmed that Matt Henry will replace Boult which seems the home side will go with an all-pace attack while Dean Elgar has hinted that Sarel Erwee might get an opportunity to make his Test debut. Will he get the nod? New Zealand will be without some veteran players like Kane Williamson and Trent Boult. With Ross Taylor now retired, they need someone like him to fill his void. They drew their last home series against Bangladesh while South Africa won 2-1 against India. The Kiwis will enjoy the home condition but with a few senior players missing, they have to get their best game against a side that is sitting fourth on the World Test Championship table.

The lush green outfield and strong winds are the hallmarks here and they bring a different kind of challenge for the touring teams. South Africa are in the country to challenge the supremacy of the Black Caps at home and the coming two Test matches are going to be full of excitement. Right then, the batting has let South Africa down and it's over to their bowlers to help them get back in this Test match. They have plenty of quality in their bowling ranks and let's see how they utilize the conditions. Stay tuned to find out...

The destroyer-in-chief, Matt Henry comes up for a quick chat. Says that it's a great start to the Test match and he is feeling great in front of his friends and family. Tells that it's nice to get an opportunity to play Test cricket. Mentions that after watching the overhead conditions, he was hoping to get a chance to bowl first.

South Africa were put to bat under testing conditions but by no means it's a 95 all out surface. There was a lack of application on their part and the technique was also questionable. They ended up playing many deliveries meant to be left and as a result, kept losing wickets. Zubayr Hamza and Kyle Verreynne did put up a little resistance but that was not enough. 

Blown away! No strong wind here in Christchurch but the local boy, Matt Henry, has still blown away the Proteas with his stormy bowling. With an outstanding bowling figure of 7 for 23, the speedster decimated the South African batting line-up. The other bowlers also rallied around him and it was a clinical show from the Kiwis in the park.

New Zealand's coach Gary Stead confirmed that Matt Henry will replace Boult which seems the home side will go with an all-pace attack while Dean Elgar has hinted that Sarel Erwee might get an opportunity to make his Test debut. Will he get the nod? New Zealand will be without some veteran players like Kane Williamson and Trent Boult. With Ross Taylor now retired, they need someone like him to fill his void. They drew their last home series against Bangladesh while South Africa won 2-1 against India. The Kiwis will enjoy the home condition but with a few senior players missing, they have to get their best game against a side that is sitting fourth on the World Test Championship table.
