23-yr-old mother of three raped by auto driver in Delhi's Ghazipur

New Delhi: the Delhi Police on Saturday arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for raping a 23-year-old woman in the national capital.

Speaking to IANS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Omvir Singh said that the incident happened in east Delhi's Gazipur on July 1st. 

The accused, 30-year-old, allegedly sexually assaulted the victim after she boarded his auto on Saturday night, police said.

After the woman approached police with a complaint, the 28-year-old accused was arrested. "Passersby caught the accused and handed him over to police," a police officer said. 

The accused is currently in judicial custody.

The woman is the mother of three children, police said.
