65-year-old woman becomes cadaveric organ donor; saves lives of five!

New Delhi: Cadaveric organ donation has gradually caught pace in a world where people were earlier blinded by emotions and superstitions engraved in their religious and karmic beliefs.

We live in a more aware world today, where medical science has advanced with the times and made many things possible.

After its success, cadaveric organ donation has been actively campaigned for to raise awareness with the simple message that you can save a life even in death.

This is what a 65-year-old woman from Maharashtra did after was declared brain dead on being rushed to a hospital on losing mobility in limbs, by saving five lives through her organs last week.

Her family consented to the donation after she was moved to Aster Aadhar Hospital.

Mrs Sarudkar, the donor, donated her eyes, kidneys and liver, which were taken to Pune where they were transplanted to change the lives of five people.

One of the patients saved, was a 42-year-old farmer who was suffering from the end stage of a liver ailment.
