PRATAPGARH: At least 14 persons including six children died after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway under limits of Manikpur police station. The incident took place on Thursday (November 19) night.
According to reports, the passengers were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony in Nawabganj area of Pratapgarh. Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Anurag Arya said a truck had been parked at the side of the highway due to a punctured tyre when the speeding SUV rammed it from behind.
All the occupants of the SUV died in the crash and several others were also injured in the incident.
The official added that all help has been assured to the families of the victims.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended his condolences over the accident and has directed senior officials to reach the spot and provide all possible help, his office was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
