Car driver beaten, Rs 16.50 lakh looted at gunpoint in Delhi

Four motorcycle-borne persons looted Rs 16.50 lakh from a car driver after hitting him on the head with the butt of a pistol in Madhu Vihar area of east Delhi this morning.

New Delhi: Four motorcycle-borne persons looted Rs 16.50 lakh from a car driver after hitting him on the head with the butt of a pistol in Madhu Vihar area of east Delhi this morning.

Dharmendra, the driver of chartered accountant Ajay Agarwal, was carrying the payment amount from Daryaganj, a police officer said.

He told police that when he reached the office of his employer, he was intercepted by four men who came on two motorcycles.

They tried to snatch the bag containing the money from him. When he resisted they hit him on the head with the butt of a pistol. They also fired in the air to stop anyone from stopping them, police said.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway, said the officer.
