Nearly twenty-eight years after the Babri Masjid was demolished, the Special CBI court acquitted all 32 accused in the case, including former deputy prime minister LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and Uma Bharti.

A curative petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday (January 21) against Ayodhya verdict by Peace Party, urging the apex court to reconsider its November 9 decision which he said was taken on the basis of faith. 

The major events include - India conducting airstrikes at a terror camp at Balakot in Pakistan, repeal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and enactment of Citizenship Amendment Act, Ayodhya verdict, the final list of NRC was published in Assam, Karatarpur Corridor was opened and the triple talaq bill passed.

The five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde and comprising Justices DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan, SA Nazeer, and Sanjeev Khanna heard the petitions today. 

The SC bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde and comprising Justices DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan, SA Nazeer and Sanjeev Khanna will start the in-chamber proceedings at 1.40 PM.

So far, as many as seven petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court challenging its November 9 decision in Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case. 

In November, a five-judge Supreme Court bench unanimously said the entire disputed land spread over 2.7 acres will be handed over to a trust formed by the government, which will monitor the construction of a Ram temple at the site. It also added that an alternative five acres of land at a prominent location in Ayodhya should be allotted for the construction of a mosque following consultation between the Centre and the State government. 

Hindu Mahasabha is set to file a review plea on Monday (December 9) seeking review of the apex court's decision to allocate 5-acre plot of land to the Muslim side to build a mosque.
