CCPA Issues 325 Notices For Consumer Rights Violations, Imposes Penalties

Cloudtail fined Rs 1 lakh for selling low-standard pressure cookers on Amazon
CCPA imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh on Cloudtail India for selling pressure cookers on Amazon in violation of mandatory BIS standards CCPA asked Cloudtail to recall 1,033 pressure cookers and also reimburse the money to customers. Cloudtail has been told to submit a compliance report within 45 days.

The cookers did not conform to BIS standards. The cooking equipment was non-compliant to Domestic Pressure cooker (Quality Control) Order 2020 (QCO). Paytm Mall listed pressure cookers of Pristine and Quba on its platform despite the product description clearly stating that it does not carry ISI mark.
