  On the ninth day of the Asian Games, India enjoyed a series of remarkable achievements in diverse sports. The mixed 4x400m relay team secured a thrilling silver medal after a race in which Sri Lanka initially finished first but was disqualified for a lane infringement. In athletics, Ancy Sojan won silver in the women's long jump, while Tejaswin Shankar excelled in the men's decathlon high jump, leading the field by clearing 2.21m. Vithya Ramraj equaled PT Usha's national record in the women's 400m hurdles, securing a spot in the final.

HS Pranoy will now face world number two and top seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, who knocked out India's Kiran George 21-15, 21-18. 

In the men's singles, former world no 1 Srikanth went down 21-12, 22-24, 17-21 to Japan's Kento Momota in a grueling three-setter.

Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sen, who took a short break to focus on his mental and physical health, was eliminated by world number 7 Loh Kean Yew in a 7-21, 21-23 loss.  

The 30-year-old Indian will next face Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen, who won the bronze medal at the world championships last week, in the quarterfinal stage. Prannoy, currently ranked world number 18, has beaten Chen in their last two meetings, but overall, he is 3-4 behind.

PV Sindhu will face either Japan’s Saena Kawakami or second seeded Korean An Seyoung next. In a battle between two former world number ones, it was World Championships silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth, who rode on his power. 

PV Sindhu took 37 minutes to notch up her 12th win in as many games against Aya Ohori. Sindhu will now be up against Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the quarter-finals.
