The state Cabinet okayed a proposal to constitute a panel of officials to recruit more West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) and Police Service (WBPS) officers. State Industry Minister claimed that some neighbouring states that are smaller than West Bengal have more IAS and IPS officers compared to them.
The seemingly unending tug of war between the TMC govt and Raj Bhawan has reached a new low. Mamata Banerjee said on Monday she has 'blocked' Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Twitter. Dhankhar then approached the TMC chief on WhatsApp to stress the importance of 'dialogue and harmony' in democracy.
The Bengal government ordered of internet suspension as some communal forces were seen violently protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and NRC even after making several requests to end the disorder in the state. The step is taken to ensure that the law and order is maintained in the state and public life won't get affected.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there will be heavy downpour with high-speed wind 70-80 kmph in the north coastal districts of Odisha. On the other hand, West Bengal government has also issued alert and announced that the Kolkata airport will remain closed from 6 pm on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday in view of the bad weather condition in the state.
